Bettina Milz

Bettina Milz studied applied theatre studies in Gießen before subsequently working as a dramaturge, curator, instructor and writer. 1988 after finishing the studies she worked with Prof. Hans-Thies Lehmann during the development and installation of the Institute fot Theatre, Film and Mediascience of Goethe-University Frankfurt/M. and since 1990 as dramaturge in Theater Erlangen. In 1996, she and Johannes Odenthal assumed direction of the project TanzRegion 97 for the organisation KulturRegion Stuttgart. From 1999 to 2003, she served as production manager, dramaturge and executive director of the youth opera department of the Staatsoper Stuttgart. She was also the artistic project director of the German Dance Plattform 2006 at Theaterhaus Stuttgart as well as head of the 2008 NRW independent theatre festival FAVORITEN (FAVOURITES). From 2008 to 20013, she additionally began curating the Tanzplan initiative International Summer Lab / TANZLABOR_21 at Mousonturm Frankfurt. From 2009 to 2022, Bettina Milz has served as Head of the Theatre and Dance Division of the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. She has taught classes in the theatre and dance studies departments of universities and academies in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Erlangen, Frankfurt am Main, Karlsruhe, Leipzig, Ludwigsburg and Mainz. Since April 2022 she is the artistic coordinator for the new Pina Bausch Center in the course of formation.
